What happened when a renowned psychotherapist stated his professional view this week that Donald Trump is “dangerously mentally ill”? It set off a round of controversy, as the doctor in question has never treated Trump directly. But it also set off a round of confirmation, from other professionals and those who simply know him well. In response to the diagnosis in question, a former Trump Organization executive now says that it rings true with everything she knows about him, and that it’s been true for at least several decades.
It all began when Dr. John D. Gartner announced that in his view “Donald Trump is dangerously mentally ill” based on his visible symptoms, which was reported on by U.S. News & World Report. That led the New York Daily News to report that various other mental health professionals have the same view of Trump’s symptoms. This in turn led Barbara Res, who identifies herself as a former executive vice president of the Trump Organization, to reach out to the NYDN and offer her corroborating views based on her personal familiarity with Donald Trump.
Res is not medical professional. But she now says that she read a professionally published article on narcissism in the eighties, and came to the following conclusion: “Being the team who was charged with building Trump Tower, we all knew Donald Trump very well, especially myself. To a person, we all agreed that the characteristics outlined in the article fit Donald to a “T.” Now, 35 years later, professionals are saying what we knew back then. Only now he is so much worse.”
In other words, top mental health professionals believe Donald Trump is mentally ill based on his current visible symptoms, and one of his own former top execs is affirming that he’s had these same symptoms for decades. To be clear, millions of good natured Americans have various forms of mental illness, and they should not be stigmatized for it. However, Trump’s (presumably untreated) malignant narcissism makes him dangerous in the White House. Shamefully, he’s now using his position to put the health care benefits of mentally ill Americans at risk by trying to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

If you’ve lost track of just who Michael T. Flynn is in the midst of the other higher profile extremists dominating the Donald Trump administration, he’s the crazy former military guy who likes chanting “Lock Her Up” and was once disciplined because he leaked classified information — and he’s deeply tied to Russia. He’s since taken on the role of Trump’s National Security Advisor. But just ten days into the administration, Trump’s other top advisors are leaking that Flynn is already on the outs.
In a lengthy insider piece published by the New York Times this week which details just how much power Steve Bannon has assumed over the White House, the consistent focus of the piece is that Michael Flynn has quickly talked himself into being on the outs with Trump. The profile paints Flynn as being more or less unable to stop talking, to the point that his rambling answer during Trump’s meeting with British Prime Minister Theresa May left Trump embarrassed.
Trump also fired Flynn’s son for spreading the false information which led to a near-shooting at a Brooklyn pizzeria. And various members of Trump’s brand new cabinet have grown so concerned with Flynn’s behavior that they’ve called meetings just to discuss Flynn’s behavior. Meanwhile, Flynn has supposedly been complaining that he no longer gets one on one face time with Trump since the inauguration.
There are two equally important aspects of these revelations. One is that Donald Trump assembled a team largely consisting of corrupt, unqualified and unstable people because those were the only kind of people who wanted to be involved with his campaign to begin with – and now that these bad actors have job responsibilities, they’re flailing.
The other key item of note here is that one or more individuals within Trump’s team are so adamant about finishing off the already-wounded Flynn that they’ve made a point of leaking all of these embarrassing details to the New York Times. By revealing that Flynn already has one foot out the door, they’re helping to finish him of all the more quickly. It paints a picture of the Trump administration already operating along the lines of a metaphorical Game of Thrones.

When Donald Trump decided that fake-news publisher and alt-right nazi Steve Bannon would be his White House Chief Strategist, he presumably chose that role so that the overwhelmingly controversial Bannon wouldn’t have to go through Senate confirmation hearings, which would have been a firestorm for the ages. But now that Trump has subsequently also picked Bannon for the National Security Council, it turns out he’ll be unwittingly feeding Bannon to the Senate wolves after all.
According to section (a)(6) of federal statute 50 U.S. Code 3021, a civilian like Steve Bannon will in fact need to go through Senate confirmation and approval in order to serve on the National Security Council because he doesn’t fit into any of the five listed pre-approved categories. That obscure law, which has remained obscure because no president has ever tried to put a political hack on the NSC until now, was dug up by MSNBC analyst Jonathan Alter late on Monday night. This sets up a remarkable showdown if Trump goes ahead with the Bannon pick, because few in either party have shown any affinity or trust for the guy – and they’ll have limitless material for embarrassing him.
If Bannon goes through a Senate confirmation, it will give Senators the opportunity to grill him about his former role running fake-news white nationalist site Breitbart, and the chance to hammer him about the allegations that he beat his wife. And it will pull back the curtain on the mysterious Bannon, who is believed to be acting as de facto president in the Trump administration. If all 48 Democrats vote against him, it will require just three Republicans to do the same. Considering just how deeply Bannon is distrusted, along with the strong belief that he should not be taking the place of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff on the NSC, it’s likely that Bannon will be rejected by the Senate.
Trump went out of his way to make sure Steve Bannon didn’t have to go through Senate confirmation the first time around. So it’s a given that Trump simply didn’t realize Bannon would need Senate approval for the National Security Council. Now that this law has been unearthed, there’s a decent chance Bannon will be withdrawn. He would still have his role as Chief Strategist and puppet master. But it would mark yet another embarrassing body blow to Trump’s out of control administration and his pet Nazi.

White House Counsel John Dean was knee deep in Richard Nixon’s Watergate scandal, first helping to orchestrate it and then later blowing the whistle on it and helping force Nixon out of office. He had a front row seat to Nixon’s “Saturday Night Massacre” in which he fired everyone who refused to help cover up his crimes. And now that John Dean has had an opportunity to watch Donald Trump’s Monday Night Massacre unfold this evening, he’s making a stern prediction.
John Dean has been consistently critical of Donald Trump both before and after the election, and he has previously suggested that investigators should <a href="http://www.palmerreport.com/politics/watergate-conspirator-explains-key-trump-putin-follow-money/630/" target="_blank".follow the money to get the bottom of Trump’s Russia scandal, borrowing a famous phrase from the movie made about the Watergate investigation. But in the midst of tonight’s Monday Night Massacre, Dean began harshly condemning Trump’s actions in real time.
After Trump fired acting Attorney General Sally Yates for refusing to implement his illegal Muslim ban even after federal judges had issued an immediate stay against it, Dean this missive: “Donald Trump is in the process of trashing the American presidency. He is just getting started. He thinks he is bigger than the office.” Then after Trump released a statement attacking Yates, Dean continued his criticism: “I’ve never read White House statement as nasty as Trump’s attack on Acting AG Sally Yates. New low.”
But then came the final blow, and the point of no return. John Dean, who was a first hand participant in the unraveling of the only president to ever resign</b., and who knows precisely what he's looking at when he sees it, predicted this: “The way the Trump presidency is beginning it is safe to say it will end in calamity. It is almost a certainty. Even Republicans know this!” Perhaps Donald Trump needs to read this.

Donald Trump’s Monday Night Massacre continues, as he’s now fired the heads of two major federal agencies for refusing to enforce his unconstitutional executive order banning Muslims. First he fired acting Attorney General Sally Yates at around 9pm eastern time on Monday. And now, sometime around 10pm eastern time, he’s fired Daniel Ragsdale, the acting Director of U.S. Immigrations and Custom Enforcement, more commonly known as ICE.
The second firing was announced on the Homeland Security website on Monday night. Remarkably, his replacement Thomas Homan is not currently listed as being part of the ICE leadership team on its official website at all, as he was previously the executive associate director of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations — not a senior position
No mention has been made by anyone in Trump White House as to why Ragsdale was fired. When MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell announced the firing on-air on Monday night, he wasn’t aware of the official reason either. This comes less than two hours after Yates was fired for refusing to abide by Trump’s Muslim ban, which multiple federal judges have already issued stays against.
Trump’s “Monday Night Massacre” tonight gets its name from when a desperate Richard Nixon fired a series of high ranking people during his “Saturday Night Massacre” in one final attempt at covering up Watergate and purging anyone who refused to take part in his criminal conspiracy. The end of Trump’s brief tenure seemingly can’t be far behind.

There was point late in Richard Nixon’s time in the White House in which the Watergate scandal was closing in on him so aggressively that he began issuing illegal orders aimed at suppressing it, and firing high ranking people in rapid succession who refused to carry out those orders — thus known as the Saturday Night Massacre. It’s now taken Donald Trump all of eleven days to reach that point, as tonight he fired acting Attorney General Sally Yates after she refused to carry out his unconstitutional Muslim ban.
White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer tweeted on Monday night at 9:16pm eastern time that Donald Trump “has named Dana Boente, US Attorney for the Eastern District of VA as Acting Attorney General. Sally Yates has been relieved.” No further information was provided about Boente, but dissenters immediately hacked his Wikipedia so that it looked like this:
The Wikipedia page may have already been reverted back to its original form by the time you look at it. But hacker pranks aside, this move represents a historically destabilizing moment in United States government history. Although Sally Yates was an Obama administration holdover who would have lost her acting title once Trump’s Attorney General nominee is eventually approved, his decision to fire her means that he’s now penalizing high ranking government officials who refuse to carry out his illegal orders.
With four different federal judges in multiple states having all issued immediate stays over the weekend against Trump’s Muslim ban, it is currently illegal for Trump to try to enforce it, to fire anyone for refusing to enforce it. It’s not clear how much further down the unconstitutional rabbit hole Trump has to go before House Republicans are forced to reluctantly move forward with impeachment hearings just so preserve their own chances of reelection in 2018. But it’s clear that Trump’s own Saturday Night Massacre is already underway.

It turns out the Department of Justice isn’t the only federal agency defying Donald Trump and his unconstitutional Muslim ban today, as the State Department is also now formally getting in on the action. Hours ago Acting Attorney General Sally Yates announced that she was instructing DOJ employees to defy Trump’s order. And while the State Department is already in the hands of new Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, a Trump-Putin lackey, his underlings are taking formal action against him as well.
State Department employees formally filed a dissent memo today, a five page document to officially register their objections to Donald Trump’s actions. It’s already been signed by a triple digit number of employees, and in part it reads:
“A policy which closes our doors to over 200 million legitimate travelers in the hopes of preventing a small number of travelers who intend to harm Americans from using the visa system to enter the United States will not achieve its aim of making our country safer,” before adding that “Alternative solutions are available to address the risk of terror attacks which are both more effective and in line with Department of State and American values.”
While this dissent memo cannot legally stop Donald Trump from pushing forward with his executive order, it does publicly put the State Department at odds with the Trump administration. It also puts Tillerson in the tenuous position of having hundreds of his own employees openly rebelling against him and his new boss just seven days after he was confirmed as Secretary of State.
Meanwhile White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer, who has become so visibly rattled after ten days of having to lie on Donald Trump’s behalf that he’s now mistakenly tweeting everything from his own password to Onion articles about himself, angrily responded to the State Department dissent memo by suggesting that those who signed it should resign. But they’re not going anywhere. The Resistance continues.

Just two days after Donald Trump issued an executive order aimed squarely at stripping the rights of Muslims, trapping them in airports and setting nationwide protests against him before a federal judge struck him down, he’s is now preparing to go after the rights of gays. Numerous sources have confirmed that Trump is prepping a sweeping executive order aimed at curtailing the rights of LGBT Americans. In other words, mainstream Americans must prepare to fight the next battle already.
The reports of Trump’s pending anti-LGBT executive order are coming in fast and furious. For instance Josh Rogin from CNN is reporting that it may take away adoption rights nationwide. Imana Gandy of Rewire News is reporting that Trump will frame the order under the guise of “religious freedom” but will be aimed at allowing the government and individuals to discriminate against gays at will, just denying them their most basic rights.
It’s not clear whether Trump will try to move against gay marriage in his executive order, which has already been declared fully constitutional by the Supreme Court. But what is clear is that he’ll seek to strip away as many civil rights from LGBT Americans as possible, in order to retain favor with the bigoted, extremist, faux-christian conservative base who helped elect him. At a time when Trump’s popularity is already historically low for new president and falling, he appears to be trying to shore up the support he does have. But this will trigger another massive round of protests, while handing his political opponents even more ammunition.
Americans have already taken to the streets in the millions to protest against Donald Trump’s views toward women and his attempted Muslim ban. Now Americans must prepare to take to the streets to protest against his attempted crackdown on LGBT rights. As Trump grows more unconstitutionally out of control, the Resistance grows.

You can count the Department of Justice among the growing number of federal agencies who are openly defying Donald Trump’s unconstitutional orders – and in this instance it’s officially coming from the top. Acting Attorney General Sally Yates, who is in charge of the DOJ as long as the confirmation of Trump nominee Jeff Sessions remains pending in the Senate, has instructed her employees not to defend Trump’s Muslim ban executive order under any circumstances. This comes two days after four federal judges issued stays against Trump’s order, and it sets up an immediate Constitional crisis.
Trump can fire Yates, but he cannot install Sessions without Senate approval, which he is now far less likely to get after the events of the past three days. But if he does fire Yates, no one will be left at the DOJ with the authority to issue the most top level warrants, meaning she may be essentially unfirable for now.
With federal judges having already issued rulings against Trump’s Muslim ban on the grounds of lack of constitionality, and numerous members of Congress having spent the weekend at airports demanding that federal agents release the Muslim detainees, and now the head of the DOJ refusing to comply, it means all three branches of the federal government are now taking aggressive action against Trump – leaving him increasingly isolated just eleven days into his presidency.
But even with millions of Americans now regularly taking to the streets to protest against Donald Trump’s illegitimate Russian-backed rise to power and his aggressively unconditional actions in office, he can only be impeached if the Republicans in Congress agree to work with the Democrats to make it happen. Meanwhile mass protests continue to grow.

It turns out Donald Trump’s plans to do away with the branches of government he doesn’t like are going to have to wait a bit. The Trump administration raised eyebrows when it completely removed the Judicial Branch from the White House website last week, listing only two branches of government. And after Trump found himself at odds with a federal court ruling against his Muslim ban on Saturday, the public began asking if the omission was intentional.
Numerous individuals posted social media screen captures of the “Our Government” section of the whitehouse.gov website, which listed the “Executive Branch” and the “Legislative Branch” but not the Judicial Branch, instead skipping straight to “The Constitution.” Some took it as a sign that Donald Trump was no longer recognizing the sanctity of the court system, and that he was instead asserting that the third branch of government was simply the checks and balances of the Constitution itself, which he would presumably interpret.
The website change was so jarring that some social media observers didn’t even believe the screen captures being posted were real, and had to go look at whitehouse.gov themselves for confirmation. Charles Johnson from Little Green Footballs dug into the Internet Archive at archive.org yesterday and proved that the “Judicial Branch” had been removed from the White House website since Trump took office.
However, after yesterday’s public uproar, the Judicial Branch has been restored to the White House website. Scroll down to the bottom right hand side of the site, and you’ll find it once again listed under “Our Government” along with the other two branches.
With no word from the White House on the changes, there’s no way to know for certain whether the “Judicial Branch” was removed as an intentional stunt, or whether it was some kind of massive incompetence. But in any case it certainly backfired, convincing even more Americans that Donald Trump can’t be trusted to honor the checks and balances of the Constitution.
